The new Michael Thurmond Career Center is housed in the restored front wings of historic Georgia Hall. Staffed by the Georgia Department of Labor Career Center in nearby LaGrange, it integrates all Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency functions by blending employment with rehabilitation services.
Among the people it serves are current state vocational rehab clients, Roosevelt Warm Springs vocational students, dislocated workers, military veterans and transitioning “wounded warriors” still in the military. The Career Center features a resource library, computer work stations, multi-purpose training room for such things as resume writing or individual company employee training, as well as on-site offices.
In addition, it features the latest assistive technology, self-directed job search software, Oasis Services, rapid response service for large employers and work readiness, and customized skill training. It’s open on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Parking is available across the street from Georgia Hall. For more information call 706-655-5200.
